Conscious Consuming encourages Boston shoppers to "Buy Wisely"

- BOSTON, MA, February 09, 2007 - The local non-profit, Conscious Consuming, recently launched a web site to increase awareness of the impact of buying decisions on our health, happiness, and environment. Through education and discussion, the folks at Conscious Consuming encourage people to live in line with their values by better prioritizing time, money, and material things.

The web site launch also signifies the beginning phase of the "Buy Wisely Boston" program, in which citizens and business owners are encouraged to nominate environmentally-friendly local businesses for inclusion in the "Buy Wisely Boston" guide. The goal of the program is to support local businesses that are working to go "green," and to make it easy for people who would like to find fairly-traded, environmentally-friendly, and/or organic products locally.

Among the many reasons to support a local living economy are: more money circulates in the local community (local businesses buy from other local businesses, while big box stores buy from central distributors), local business owners support the local communities (through donations to schools and non-profits) and provide jobs to residents, and provide products and services more in tune with their local customer. Supporting a local living economy with sustainable services and organic or fair trade products is icing on the cake!
