ICG debut 12000dpi scanner at photokina 2004

/24-7PressRelease.com/ -- Scanner manufacturer Itek Colour Graphics Ltd (ICG) has made its debut appearance at the world֢s most significant photographic trade fair, photokina. The fair came to a conclusion last week after a highly successful 6 days which saw 160000 visitors attend the event in Cologne, Germany.

photokina 2004 reflects the continuation of ICG֢s growth into the professional photographic market. The company has added to its vast experience of the pre-press market and now delivers its comprehensive background of colour and image capture to photographers all over the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.

Visitors to the ICG stand came from an impressive cross section of geographical areas, from USA, Finland and Norway to Latvia, Russia and the Far East. During the 6 days, people from 123 different countries attended the event.

photokina 2004 confirmed ICG֢s belief that high end photographers acknowledge and desire the quality difference that drum scanners give over CCD scanners. ICG֢s flagship scanner, the 380, was the premier scanner at photokina, offering its users an optical quality resolution of 12000 dpi from any film format. In addition, the scanner"s photomultiplier technology gives it the ability to reproduce any shadow detail present in the original, setting it apart from its CCD counterparts.

Photographers at photokina commented on the growing number of ageing high-end drum scanners around the world, the majority of which are now becoming difficult to maintain and upgrade, specifically with regard to the latest operating systems such as Mac OS X.

֢There were many enquires on the ICG stand from professional photographers currently outsourcing their scans to companies that own drum scanners.֢ remarks ICG Director Ian Smith, ֢The photographers are looking to bring their scans in-house. The 380 is a much more accessible device than its previous counterparts, both in terms of cost and ease of use. This is proving to be a tempting combination to this new market.֢

Also available with the 380 are the patented SlickMount and QuickMount drums. Both offer the user quick and easy mounting without the need to tape the film to the surface of the drum. As the drum rotates, the centrifugal force presses the originals against its inner surface.

In addition to the 380 drum scanner, ICG exhibited its new proofing solution CPProof. CPProof drew much attention at photokina through its capacity to produce photo quality ICC colour accurate proofs from jpeg, TIFF and most other file formats. The colour managed RIP incorporates ICC colour profiling, which enables professional photographers to achieve the highest quality colour representation of their images. The product features numerous professional facilities including digital file re-sampling which can provide users with high quality images from low resolution files and has the ability to produce very large format output for use in billboard and poster environments.

ICG also exhibited Northmann֢s media asset management solution, Northmann Professional.
