YOUTH AT RISK CELEBRATES 16th Annual "DAY IN THE PARK"

- NEW YORK, NY, July 22, 2005 - Youth at Risk, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to transforming the chaotic lives of young people through persistent and compassionate mentoring in New York City. The event will take place Saturday, July 23rd; it starts at 10:00am, in the Prospect Park Tennis House South, on Prospect Park and 9th street. The purpose of this event is to unite all those who participated in Youth at Risk"s various intervention programs, young people, their mentors, volunteers, and their families.

"This event is just another way we at Youth at Risk demonstrates our dedication to creating a more positive community for the young people in New York City" said Claudette C"Faison, Executive Director of Youth at Risk. Since 1989, Youth at Risk has been a leader in youth empowerment and mentoring. Our mission is to decrease the at-risk behavior of youth and to enhance the effectiveness of the people who live and work with them.

Youth at Risk provides one-to-one mentors for youth from underserved communities between the ages of 12-25 whose circumstances and environment put them at risk for failure academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Youth at Risk works with the youths and families who are "falling through the cracks" - teenage parents, violent youth, fatherless young men, youth with disabilities, and families in shelters.

For more information on the 16th Annual Day in the Park Event, the several Youth at Risk intervention programs and their impact on New York"s youth, please contact the New York office at 212-791-4927 or visit www.nyyouthatrisk.org.
