Global Warming Aiming at Australia´s Koalas

Studies are showing a very grim future for Australia´s koalas because the changes made by global warming are going to reduce the food supply.

The koala has had to adapt to an immense loss of habitat and food sources due to the development of Australia and the drought. Professor Ian Hume´s research shows that the koalas are going to be taking another blow.

Hume has shown in his research that an increase in carbon dioxide in the air increases the level of anti-nutrients, toxins and other unhelpful ingredients in eucalyptus leaves. Hume explained that if the global warming was to continue as it is then the leaves wouldn´t have enough nutrients to supply the koalas. The koalas would have to move to a place where the food has enough nutrients but if the carbon dioxide levels rise there might not be such a place and because the carbon dioxide levels are rising at such a large speed it is making it almost impossible for the koalas to adapt their diet.

The carbon dioxide that is the cause for this situation is produced by many things such as the industry and traffic etc. The carbon dioxide that is in the atmosphere traps the suns rays which heat the Earth more and more causing global warming. Although this development has been known for many years there hasn´t been much action taking place to prevent or to decrease the speed of global warming.

Luckily the awareness of the situation is raising and more and more people are realising that there is a threat called global warming that is growing every day. Scientists have developed technologies which can save energy and replace the conventional energy sources, technology such as the photovoltaic cells and wind energy which can help to decrease the speed of global warming.
