Texas to be home of the largest wind farm
The Texan T Boone Pickens has begun his project to build the largest wind farm that is to be made of 2 700 wind turbines at a cost of $10 billion. This month the first 500 are to be payed which initially starts the long building process that is to take 4 years. This amazing project once finished is expected to make 4 000 MW of electricity during the best time of day.
The location of the wind farm has been chosen by German wind technicians who have been testing the area for its potential. The area is already producing wind energy due to three of the largest wind farms that are already producing more wind energy than the UK, France and California put together.
Wind energy is a fast growing movement that helps the environment and reduces the amount of co2. Using 100 kWh of wind power each month is equivalent to planting half an acre of trees or not driving 2,400 miles.
More and more countries are realising the potential in wind energy and the benefits for the economy, just recently the Canadian government has spotted the growing interest in wind energy and has launched a online resource to allow the farming community to reduce their dependence on conventional energy sources. The Canadian government is investing $3,6 billion to enable affordable acces to clean energy.
The Integration of Renewable Energy on the Farm (IREF) web site gives detailed information and assistance for users to analyze the potential of renewable energy sources onto farms. With the tools of the site users can find out how much money they could make or save by investing into renewable energy.
